risks

I've been tossing my junk out recently when I found an email I printed out 6-6-2006 from HR - it basically said I wouldn't be able to take flex time during the work week for school for my masters degree. That day seems like yesterday and yet it seems like a lifetime ago. I've tacked this to my wall to remind me to continue to take risks.

that's twice in the last couple of month i've woken up in a sweat thinking my thesis project was due... it's always either i've missed too many classes or an image sequence is taking too long to render or something else not going right... boy i'm damaged...

whole foods...

got a black mark in my book today... went to the whole foods near work - wanted to pick up some dark-chocolate m&ms (delicious...)  Searched all over, when through each aisle - found the candy section - no m&ms but plenty of nuts and yogurt covered things and dried apricots, etc.  Bewildered I went up to a customer rep. and asked where the m&ms were - he tightly responded: "here at whole foods, we only carry natural foods..."
- hrm. I could have done with "sorry we don't carry that here..."
seriously, what's so unnatural about m&ms and so good about natural foods that you need a stick up your #@!#$?

fight club revisited

i went back to tkd - needless to say i was out of shape - but no I did not pass out on my first day back. I made sure of that by running myself ragged up the hills behind my apt. building in the weeks before.
my second day back i got tossed into the ring for a bit of sparring - i got "thwacked" (the actual sound) in the stomach by a friend of mine who i hadn't seen in about two years - him being a black belt now and much more confident in landing his round-house kick into me. I was happy to find that I could still land head-shots though I've lost some flexibility but which i'm beginning to slowly recover.

introductions pt III

"so what do you do?"

         (oh no!)
"I'm an artist working at xxxxx."

"oh wow! what do you there do?"

         "I'm a compositor..." (doh!!)
